True Love Conquers All
“Love” is a word that gets thrown around a lot. But what does it really mean to love the way God loves? The answer to that question is written throughout the Bible, and is really highlighted in 1 Corinthians 13. In this series, kids will learn how we can emulate the love God has for us.
MEMORY VERSE:
“Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud. It does not dishonor other people. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs. Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when the truth is spoken. It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a (NIRV)
LESSONS:
1) LESSONS:
Love is Patient
Scripture: Luke 15:11-24, Parable of the Lost Son
Jesus told the story of a father who patiently waited every day for his lost son to come home. When the son finally found his way home, the father ran to him in love. Jesus told this story to give us a picture of how God waits patiently for us to come to Him and experience His love.
Objective: Kids will learn “God’s love is shown through patience.”
2) Love is Kind
Scripture: Luke 10:25-37, The Parable of the Good Samaritan
In this parable of Jesus, the Samaritan showed kindness to the injured man when his own countrymen turned a blind eye. Kindness is a demonstration of love. We can extend love to others by being kind.
Objective: Kids will learn “God’s love is shown through kindness.”
3) Love Keeps No Record of Wrongs
Scripture: Luke 23:32-43, Criminals on The Cross
Jesus freely gave his life so that we could have forgiveness. Jesus demonstrated that forgiving love to one of the criminals who was crucified with him. Although the criminal had done many bad things to deserve punishment, Jesus did not hold those things against the man. Jesus instead offered forgiveness and love.
Objective: Kids will learn “God’s love is shown through forgiveness.”
4) Love Never Fails
Scripture: John 3:16, God’s Love & Luke 24:36-47, Jesus Appears to Disciples
Because of His great love for us, God sent His Son to earth to be our Savior. When Jesus laid down his life for us, and then rose again in power, He proved that God’s love never fails. We can experience all the love that God has for us when we put our trust in Jesus.
Objective: Kids will learn “God's love never fails.”
