Think Thankful Thoughts Children's Ministry Curriculum Lesson Overview

Memory Verse:

Lessons:

Roots
Scripture: Colossians 2:6-10, Grow in Christ
Roots keep a tree fed and secure. One Who Thinks Thankful Thoughts remain grounded in Christ. They have strong roots and are thankful.
Objective: Kids will say “I'm thankful to be grounded in Jesus.”  

Trunk
Scripture: Colossians 3:15-17, Let the Peace of Christ Rule
The trunk is the heart of the tree. A tree with a healthy trunk will thrive. One Who Thinks Thankful Thoughts lets the peace of Christ rule in their hearts. They are healthy and filled with gratitude.
Objective: Kids will say “I'm thankful that I can have the peace of Christ in my heart.”

Branches
Scripture: Colossians 3:1-4, Think on Things in Heaven
The branches of some trees seem to reach up beyond what we can see. Colossians tell us to focus on what we cannot see – the things of heaven. One Who Thinks Thankful Thoughts focus on those things and they are grateful.  
Objective: Kids will say “I'm thankful that there is more than what I can see.”

Leaves
Scripture: Colossians 4:2-6, Prayer
Most trees shed their leaves in the autumn – they spread out everywhere. One Who Thinks Thankful Thoughts prays with thanksgiving not just for themselves, but for others too. Those prayers spread out everywhere, like leaves on a tree.
Objective: Kids will say “I'm thankful that I can pray for others.”
