Jesus Loves Sinners
Jesus Loves Sinners

If you don't understand that Jesus loves sinners, you won't understand God or the Gospel. People often get the idea that Jesus died for them because they deserve it, but if we deserved it we wouldn't need His sacrifice in the first place! We have all sinned, we all need Jesus, and He died for all of us (even the people it's hard for us to love). The false gospel that says, "Jesus died for people who are basically good" plays out in one of two ways: one side wrongly thinks that Jesus loves them because they (usually) follow the rules and that He hates the lawless, the other side thinks that Jesus loves them because they are victims and have a good excuse for their sins (including believing that their sin isn't sinful at all) and they believe that Jesus hates those who are judgmental or cruel. Both sides are wrong. Jesus died for us when we were his enemies, not because we deserve it but because He loves us and we need a Savior. Jesus hates sin, but He loves sinners.
